Small gap higher compression turbo
Webb25 okt. 2024 · 10/25/17 9:38 p.m. It already runs 93 octane due to the high compression ratio. It just seems like cramming boost into such an engine without lowering the compression ratio and whatever other internal modifications are needed is a recipe for disaster. I had a Cobalt SS turbo and increased the boost a little. Webb12 okt. 2024 · Consider Part Changes to Lower Static Compression Ratio. Another alternative if you still want to run a blower on your 383 c.id. engine, would be to change parts to lower the static compression ratio. You should be able to run a 7-8 psi blower with a 9:1 static compression ratio and the engine might run fine on 91 octane fuel.

Webb28 nov. 2015 · Likewise a reduction in compression ratio from 11:1 to 7.0:1 should result in a 12.3-percent decrease in power. Believe it or not, high-compression engines of the late ’60s, with compression ratios up to 12.5:1, had higher thermal efficiencies than many of today’s engines. For the same size engine, the older engine would have been more fuel ... Webb5 nov. 2024 · The compression ratio (CR) is defined as the ratio of the volume of the cylinder and its head space (including the pre-combustion chamber, if present). So the compression ratio only deals with volumes. …
Webb15 nov. 2024 · Those alloys can retain high strength values at these high temperatures. The turbines in most current production turbochargers are suitable for continuous operation at an exhaust gas inlet temperature of 1750°F (950°C). Production turbines are typically investment-cast from Inconel 713 C or 713 LC ( Table One ). WebbAs you can see, for a high performance street/strip application, a minimum end gap of 4.5 thou per inch of bore is recommended, so that means if we have a 3.386 inch bore, we multiply that by 0.0045 to arrive at our recommended end gap of 15.2 thou. With a figure like this, we’d be safe to round the result to 15 thou, as it’s very difficult ...
WebbI read somewhere that gap should be at .028 psi. My car was pinning pretty hard, to a point of check engine flashing. I changed the gap to .028 and it got significantly better. Anyway, my tuner says i am getting plug blow out at such a large gap, which is why it needs to be gapped smaller. Please help me figure this out. Webb17 jan. 2011 · FWIW, most OEM turbocharged engines are in the 8.0-8.5:1 range. There are some slightly lower and some slightly higher, but I think it would be safe to say 90% fall into that 8.0-8.5:1 range. Having a higher compression ratio will make it a little more snappy off boost, but you'll limit maximum power. 1st gen DSM 7.8:1.
Webb5 apr. 2013 · Compression increases the efficiency of an engine by extracting more energy from the fuel that is burned. When we dyno test restricted oval-track engines with 9.5:1 …

You can also use another tool called a feeler gauge. These tools allow you to slide a precision sized piece of metal in between the center electrode and the ground electrode of the spark plug to measures the gap space. mark andrews fantasy 2021Webb4 nov. 2012 · Joined May 25, 2006. 143 Posts. #4 · Dec 29, 2009. K20egcw said: It'll be alright, if you get a good tune you'll be gravey! It'll take less boost to make good power and it'll help the turbo spool faster. IMO high compression + boost is the way to go. 12.5 is a little high but Id personally do it, or run a thicker gasket to lower it just a hair. mark andrews draft yearWebb10 feb. 2024 · In most cases, the high-pressure turbo tends to be about two frame sizes smaller than the low pressure stage.
