During the nineteenth-century era of industrialization, Marx believed social stratification resulted from people’s relationship to production. People were divided into two main groups: they either owned factories or worked in them. WebbKarl Marx (1818-1881) is regarded as one of the greatest thinkers of all times. His views have influenced people classes and nations. His main contribution to understanding society and social processes was through his theory of historical materialism. This presented a radical alternative to the traditional views.
